Amazon sales trainer Kevin King has called Amazon the greatest opportunity in the past one hundred
years.
Why?
Amazon and online selling give you the opportunity to reach massive numbers of potential customers
earlier generations could only dream of.
Nicole Andreini Kirkwood was an art major and rodeo girl from Kirkwood, California. After graduating
college, she opened her own graphic design studio called Studio 22. Nicole related she enjoyed her work
at first, but soon the demands of the job were what she called “working herself to death.” Once the first
of her seven babies arrived, Nicole realized she needed more flexibility and began marketing her own
brand of baby lounges called river robin (https://riverandrobin.com/). The company allows her the
freedom to spend time with her seven children and has generated a quarter million dollars in revenue in
2020.
Nicole’s success highlights one of the huge advantages of selling on Amazon – the ability to more
customers. Literally millions of active customers regularly visit Amazon, who are looking to buy just what
you are offering. In 2020, their revenue was up 38% to a whopping $386 billion. Furthermore, buyers
increasingly trust the Amazon pages, and may be willing to click their purchase button far more likely
than they would for an unknown website seller.
Another huge advantage to selling on amazon is elimination of the costly and often cumbersome burden
of warehousing and delivering your product. Amazon or a 3PL (third party logistics company) can
warehouse your product while you concentrate on marketing, advertising, and selling.
In terms of marketing, Amazon already attracts millions to its website daily. Many sellers start out with
little or no advertising. Others rely on Amazon ads and keywords. With so many eyeballs daily on
Amazon already, it doesn’t pay to advertise anywhere else.
Online merchants are able to get their products to previous inaccessible markets. Amazon currently
seller supported locations include Canada, Mexico, most of Europe, Israel, as well as Dubai and
Australia. They are currently making inroads into China and Japan. In these new markets, some sellers
have found the use of keywords and ads to be less sophisticated than the Americans and the
competition less fierce, allowing the seller access into these foreign markets.
An Amazon Reseller is an individual or a company that sources products at wholesale and uses the
Amazon website to offer his products for sale. Some resellers sometimes acquire exclusivity of a major
brand, while others offer lower prices due to their bulk purchases. One large advantage a reseller has is
while he can have his own warehouse, and does not need concern himself with getting visitors to his
own ecommerce website or online app store.
Small merchants now have access to a huge market. Whereas before they were up against the major
retailer whom they generally couldn’t match in price, now have millions of customers visit them online
daily. This added exposure hopefully will lead to more sales, and ultimately, higher profits.
In all, Amazon and online selling is the wave of the future, and revenues just keep growing.
